THE RENOVATION PROGRAMME FOR TOURIST FURNISHED RENTAL PROPERTIES (ORIL
The operation to renovate the leisure property market, initiated by the Town Council in 2003, continues in the Vallée des Belleville.
This project is still relevant and important today, as it helps to maintain the commercial level of our three resort and helps us stay competitive vis à vis other ski resorts.
The quality of the accommodation on offer must be in correlation with the global offer, that is to say, the ski area, the equipment, the services on offer ….

In 2009, a total of 47 owners (32 in Les Menuires and 15 in Val Thorens) renovated their apartment and benefited from the grants given by the Town Council and the ski lift companies (SEVABEL and SETAM).
You too can make the best of your property and benefit from important grants (6 000 € for the first 20 m² and 150 €/m² over 20m² ) by transforming the ambience of your apartment into a comfortable and agreeable holiday home.
Classification and labelling
If owners rent out their apartment to tourists either through an Estate Agency or directly, they can request a free visit of their apartment in order to obtain the Local government classification for the property along with the associated label.
The first is indicated in stars and the second in Ibex for Les Menuires and Saint Martin de Belleville.
The visit reports will provide advise and suggestions to improve the current offer.
The classification:
from 1 to 5 stars and valid 5 years, corresponds to national standards and is attributed by a local government commission, then validated and notified by a Prefecture notice.
During the first visit, a diagnostic will be done and any work or improvements needed to obtain the classification will be given.
After the final visit certificate is established, the administrative dossier is managed entirely by the person responsible at the Tourist Office right up until the end of the process.
The labelling:
Contrary to the classification, the labelling is only valid for the Vallée des Belleville and comes into effect immediately after the visit.
Its criteria are more qualitative:
- space (the surface area/number of people the apartment is rented for),
- standard of white goods and sanitary equipment, and comfort and leisure equipment,
- quality of the floor covering and furniture
- general harmony of style and colours, and overall decoration,
- parking, balcony, orientation, aesthetic appearance of the outside of the building and common parts...
The apartment is judged as it is found and the label obtained reflects how it is when the visit was carried out.
In Les Menuires and Saint Martin de Belleville (and all the surrounding villages) the properties are marked on a scale of 2 to 5 Ibex and are valid 5 years.
If the mark obtained does not reach two Ibex, this means that the quality of the property is insufficient and the accommodation will be declared impossible to label.
In all cases, the report of the visit will detail the improvements which should be done, either to reach the minimum standard to receive a label, or to reach the label above.
To help you in your procedure, you can ask the table indicating the criteria necessary to receive each category label.
In all cases, only the persons authorized by the Tourist Office may determine the property label after a detailed visit.
